On July 8th a very nice postcard came from the Netherlands.
This shows the movie poster for the film “El viejo y el mar” with Spencer Tracy. The film came out in 1958 based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway from 1952. In English, the title is “The Old Man and the Sea“.
She wrote some nice lines, including that she was learning Portuguese.
There are 4 great postage stamps on the postcard. One stamp of the four could become the stamp of the month. It is this one that shows the golden coffee pot with a sunflower painted on it. A very unusual stamp motif.
The postcard covered 658 kilometers, that is 408 miles, in 5 days.
